Fury had not yet undergone drug testing when he sat down to field questions, so he decided to turn the water away over fears it may have been spiked with a banned substance.
Trusted coach and former WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee gave the plastic bottle to Fury, and after asking where it had come from, the Briton shook his head and declined the offer.
The lineal heavyweight champion claimed an emphatic victory by knocking his opponent down in rounds three and five, dominating from the first bell until Wilder’s team intervened.
And Fury was keen to make sure nothing entered his system which could jeapordise an outstanding win at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
He is now the first boxer to win every major world title in the heavyweight division.
